📢📵 Attention Rhodes Families!

Starting this school year, Texas House Bill 1481 requires ALL public schools to prohibit student use of personal communication devices during the school day. This includes cell phones 📱, smartwatches ⌚, earbuds 🎧, tablets 💻, and similar electronics.

✅ Devices Off & Put Away from the first bell to the last bell.
✅ Allowed after school or with staff permission for a school activity.
✅ Emergencies? Call our main office ☎️ and we’ll assist your child.

🚫 Violations will result in consequences — from same-day return for the first offense to parent conferences and device check-in for repeated issues.

This change is to help keep our Wildcats 🐾 focused, safe, and ready to learn! 💜📚 Thank you for your support in making Rhodes a distraction-free learning environment.

July 21, 2025

Dear Rhodes Families,

It is with great pride and renewed excitement that I welcome you to the 2025–2026 school year at Rhodes Middle School! As I begin my second year here as principal, I want to thank you for the support, resilience, and partnership we experienced together last year. There were challenges, yes—but we met them head-on, and we grew stronger because of it. Together, we are Resilient and Rising. We are Rhodes Strong.

This year, our focus remains on improving instruction and creating a safe, nurturing learning environment for every student. We are especially looking forward to expanding opportunities for family engagement—from academic nights to community events, we want you to feel connected, informed, and included every step of the way.

We’re also excited to welcome new staff members to our Wildcat family! You’ll have the chance to meet them and learn about your child’s classes at our Meet the Teacher Night on Tuesday, August 12th (4-6 PM). Student schedules will be distributed during the event, so we encourage all families to attend.

Please note a few important updates for the new school year:

Bell Schedule: We are now operating on a 7-period day. Our doors open at 8:00 AM, and dismissal is at 3:45 PM.

Dismissal Locations: These have changed. Please scan the QR code included in this letter to view the updated dismissal map.

Cell Phone Policy: With the new Texas state bill in effect, all middle schools are updating their electronic device expectations. SAISD will be publishing updates soon so stay tuned!

Our mission remains the same: to support, challenge, and prepare every student for success—not just in school, but in life. I truly believe that when schools and families work together, great things happen.

If you have any questions or concerns, please don’t hesitate to reach out. You can call us at (210) 978-7925. My door is always open.

Here’s to a powerful new year of learning, growth, and community.

Warmly,
Felismina Martinez
